In an epic snow year, five friends leave their daily lives behind to hike California’s historic John Muir Trail, a 211-mile stretch from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney (the highest peak in the contiguous U.S.).  Their goal — complete the journey in 25 days while capturing the amazing sights & sounds they encounter along the way.  Inspired by their bond, humor, artistry & dedication, the group continues to grow: to include other artists, musicians & adventure seekers.  Before they all reach the summit, hikers and viewers alike affirm the old adage — it’s about the journey, not the destination. Mile… Mile & A Half is the feature-length documentary of that journey…  Click here for more info.

Steve’s Take: My first thought before watching this film: Why should I care about these folks hiking the John Muir Trail? I’ve hiked a good 60-70% of the trail over the years, and had seen a few other mediocre films about the JMT,  but really, who wants to watch someone ELSE hike? By the time I finished watching, I was reminded of the beauty of these mountains, the power of perseverance and the generosity and warmth of the human spirit. Wether you’ve hiked a thousand miles or not even one, this film provides a glimpse into life on the trail within the Range of Light.

** Ric Serena,  Jason Fitzpatrick , Durand Trench and Jennifer Serena will be in attendance as special guests.
